Georgia, Original Recipe 1806
ERISTOFF vodka carries the name of one of Russia’s ancient and noble families. The Eristoff family originated in what is now Georgia, evolving into wealthy landowners with strong links to the Russian royal family and a long and distinguished military history. It is a story that can be traced back to 200 BC.

LAND OF THE WOLF
The first members of the Eristoff family were warlords more than distillers. Named the land of the wolf by the Persians, Georgia is a country so beautiful that it was fought over for thousands of years. The original Georgian version of the Russian name Eristoff or Eristov was Eristhavi an honorary title meaning 'head of a military force'. By the 19th century, five noble families each representing a different part of Georgia were using the name Eristhavi. In the 17th and 18th centuries, the Eristhavi of Racha, the ancestors of Prince Ivane Eristoff, the creator of Eristoff vodka, demonstrated their power by defeating and killing the ruling King of Georgia in battle on at least two occasions. Today, Eristoff vodka is symbolised by a wolf howling at a crescent moon. The grey wolf, which for hundreds of years has been part of Russian culture and folklore, can still be found in Georgia, a wild reminder of the country's rich past.

A SECRET FAMILY RECIPE
Eristoff is proud of its Russian heritage. It was, after all, the Russian nobility who first perfected the art of creating the finest vodkas. Vodkas like Eristoff, which has since gone on to establish an international reputation for itself. The Eristoff family first created their vodka in Georgia in 1806. It was no easy task. This was an age when your family name meant everything and the quality of your vodka reflected your standing in society. In the northwest province of Racha, Prince Ivan Eristoff perfected a secret recipe for a premium vodka he was proud to call Eristoff. Made from 100% pure grain, Eristoff is triple distilled and true to the tradition established in 18th century Russia, it is charcoal filtered for absolute purity. It was a recipe which would be handed down through generations of the Eristoff family.

ERISTOFF TODAY
Sadly the last members of the Eristoff family were Prince Nicolai Alexandrovich Eristoff, who died in Milan in 1970, and his sister, Olga, who died in 1991. Neither had children. Nicolai's name lives on, however, as his signature still appears on every bottle of Eristoff. The unique bell-shaped bottle is also embossed with the imperial crown and around the base of the bottle, the words 'Original Recipe of Prince Eristoff of 1806' written in Russian Cyrillic text. Today the popularity of Eristoff has spread across Europe and beyond - from France to Chile and from Italy to the Dominican Republic. Whether it's being enjoyed neat, with a mixer or in cocktails, Eristoff is giving people around the world a taste for the land of the wolf.
